Flash flooding on the Italian holiday island of Sardinia has left at least 14 people dead and ten missing.<br /><br />Heavy rain caused swollen rivers to break their banks sweeping away cars and inundating homes.<br /><br />The worst affected was In and around the city of Olbia in the northeast of the island as winds of up to 125 kph caused structural damage..<br /><br />Three of the victims were from the same family . They died when a road bridge collapsed crushing their car, while a mother and daughter were found dead in their vehicle after it was swept away. <br /><br />In Olbia, hundreds of residents took to Facebook to offer shelter for the night to those forced out of their homes by the severe weather.<br /><br />There was also heavy rain across northern Italy as with high winds and flooding in several coastal areas.
