Panamanian police destroyed on Friday (November 22) 11.8 tonnes of drugs, including cocaine, marijuana, heroin and chemical precursors.<br/> <br />The seized shipments were set on fire in a garbage dump on the outskirts of the capital, Panama City.<br/> <br />The destroyed drugs were seized by security forces, this being the fifth destruction this yea\r.<br/> <br />According to Panamanian authorities, about 40 tonnes of drugs have been seized and destroyed so far this year, including this batch.<br/> <br />Central America and Mexico are major transit points for South American cocaine into the United States.
