Riot police used smoke bombs and stun grenades – and also batons and fists – in clashes with demonstrators in Kyiv on the night of Sunday, December 1.<br /><br />At least 165 protesters were reportedly injured in violence on the fringes of a mass anti-government rally held in the Ukrainian capital.<br /><br />The Ukrainian Interior Ministry said that radical group Bratstvo had called on protesters to attack the police during a demonstration outside the offices of President Victor Yanukovich.<br /><br />The government said 75 police officers had been injured in Sunday’s violence.
