Riot police in Alexandria have used police fire tear gas to disperse protesters demonstrating against a new law, which restricts the right to protest.<br /><br />The unrest in Egypt’s second largest city comes as the country’s political transition has been thrown into further uncertainty.<br /><br />The interim government – which has been in power since democratically-elected Islamist President Mohamed Mursi was overthrown by the army in July – unveiled a new draft constitution on December 1.<br /><br />It broadens the army’s power and makes some changes to the roadmap for transition, which was initially announced by the army soon after Mursi’s ouster.
