The Thai government has ordered police to remove barricades outside police and government headquarters and to allow protesters inside.<br /><br />A spokesperson said the government wanted to avoid any further confrontation and violence.<br /><br />The move followed clashes over the weekend and on Monday where anti-government protesters tried to storm the prime minister’s office.<br /><br />The Thai prime minister has rejected protesters’ demands that she step down. Yingluck Shinawatra said it would be unconstitutional but that she was open to negotiations.<br /><br />The demonstrators accuse Ms Yingluck’s government of being controlled by her brother, ousted leader Thaksin Shinawatra and want to replace it with a n unelected ‘people’s council.’
