The French city of Lyon’s celebrated Festival of Light has come along way since the days when the Lyonnaise lit simple candles and put them on their window sills.<br /><br />Still an important part of the celebrations, it has now become a light spectacular which over four days from December 6-9 will have attracted over four million tourists. <br /><br />December 8 sees the peak of the entertainment, when the candles which were added to a religious festival dating back to 1643, are lit all over the Lyonnaise region. Today the event is a not-to-be-missed moment of brilliance in the dark December nights.
