Prostitution will soon be completely legal in Canada.<br /><br />Until now, street walking, running a brothel and living off the proceeds of prostitution were against the law.<br /><br />Now anything goes as Canada’s Supreme Court has removed all the restrictions on the grounds they violate prostitutes’ safety.<br /><br />The move goes in the opposite direction to recent changes to the law in some European countries, the most recent being in supposedly libertine France.<br /><br />While there is limited tolerance of prostitution, the French have sought to restrict demand by criminalising the act of buying sex, targeting clients. <br /><br />The changes in Canada will come into force in December 2014.
