Chinese state media on Friday (December 20) released a panoramic picture showing the rover's landing area on the moon, one week after the country's first probe landed successfully.<br/> <br />China landed an unmanned spacecraft on the moon on Saturday (December 14), and a moon buggy, or rover, named "Jade rabbit" rolled onto the surface of the moon, state media said.<br/> <br />The State Administration for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense said that Chang'e 3 has started its scientific operation on the moon's surface since its landing, China's state television CCTV reported.<br/> <br />Chief designer of the Chang'e 3 probing system said that the lander-mounted camera took 60 pictures from three different angles. Scientists then pieced them together to form the panoramic picture.
