Much of Western Europe faces a stormy Christmas with high winds, heavy rain and flooding.<br /><br />In the UK, two people have been killed after falling into swollen rivers in Cumbria in northwest England and, in a separate incident, in north Wales.<br /><br />The bad weather has disrupted the holiday plans for thousands with cancellations on many rail services.<br /><br />One train passenger trying to get home said she had no choice: “I have got to get there. The rest of my family is already up there waiting for me,” she said.<br /><br />In France, one person has died and another is missing off the northeast coast.<br /><br />Gale force winds have brought down power lines, leaving 90,000 households without electricity while fallen trees have caused major problems for road users.<br /><br />Italy and Spain are also bracing themselves as the storms move in their direction.
