ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)<br/> <br />STORY: Mourners gathered in Phuket, Thailand on Thursday to remember those killed in the 2004 tsunami that devastated South and Southeast Asia, claiming the lives of more than 200,000 people.<br/> <br />The event is organized annually by Phuket provincial officials on Pathong beach, southern Phuket province.<br/> <br />Both Thais and foreign tourists gathered to lay flowers and light candles on the beach to remember the victims.<br/> <br />A magnitude 9.15 earthquake off the coast of Indonesia's Aceh province unleashed a massive tsunami across the Indian Ocean that killed around 230,000 people in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand and nine other countries.<br/> <br />As many as six provinces were hit by the tidal wave along Thailand's Andaman coast, killing an estimated 5,400 people. Nearly 2,000 of them were foreign tourists.
