There has been a powerful explosion near the business district in Lebanon’s capital Beirut. <br /><br />Witnesses report seeing thick black smoke near the famous Phoenicia hotel and the Grand Serail – the headquarters of the Lebanon’s prime minister.<br /><br />Images broadcast by a local TV channel showed cars on fire, bodies in the streets and ambulances helping the injured. <br /><br />Beirut has been hit by several attacks since the summer, especially in strongholds of the Shiite movement Hezbollah.
