Hospital resources growing scarce in South Sudan

Hospitals in South Sudan are overflowing.<br /> <br />The bloody conflict has killed more than 1,000 people since violence erupted almost two weeks ago.<br /> <br />Many more have been injured.<br /> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (Juba Arabic) SUDAN PEOPLE'S LIBERATION ARMY (SPLA) MEDICAL OFFICER, SABINA MORIBA NOAH, SAYING (AUDIO AS INCOMING):<br /> <br />"We have received a lot of injured people here - both soldiers and civilians. Our bed capacity is stretched and we don't have many resources. We need a lot of help from the government because of these issues."<br /> <br />Fighting between rival groups has triggered clashes in much of the country - often along ethnic lines.<br /> <br />The hope is tensions could ease after the government proposed a ceasefire with rebels Friday.<br /> <br />Meanwhile, the first reinforcements to the U.N. peacekeepers are arriving in the capital, Juba.<br /> <br />72 Bangladeshi police officers will be deployed to help manage the growing population of displaced civilians.<br /> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (English) FRED YIGA,
