"Star in the Sky" by Cheryl Shantz and Jack Schumaker

2013-12-28 3 Dailymotion

An original love song with Music and Vocals by Cheryl Shantz and Lyrics by Jack Schumaker. The song was written in 1980 during a brief stint in Kendallville, Indiana, following their return from living in Cape Town, South Africa and before their move to Falmouth in Cornwall, England. It is an especially sad one that echoes the painful yearning for a lost lover. For some reason unbeknown to Cheryl, sadness seems to find its way inevitably into her music.
For a complete listing of original songs by Cheryl Shantz see the following website: http://cmshantz.blogspot.com/ For a listing of Cheryl Shantz's compositions for full orchestra visit: http://www.cherylshantz.blogspot.com/
To see a listing of folksong arrangements by Cheryl Shantz, visit the following website: http://cshantz.blogspot.com/

The lyrics to "Star in the Sky" are below. Star In The Sky

Here, here I am
Feeling near the end.
All alone in my empty room
Wishing I could be part of you
Once again.

Here, here I am
Missing you again.
It was only yesterday
We'd move as one and you would say
I need you.

Now it's me just me again
Dreaming dreams about you.
Life is such a long night,
You were a star in the sky.

Looking out to endless space
All I see is your face.
Life is such a long night,
I need you here by my side.

Here, here I am
Loving you again.
Was it only yesterday
You touched my soul
And then went away,
I need you.

Now it's me just me again
Darkness all around me.
Life is such a long night
You were a star in the sky.

Now it's me just me again
Dreaming dreams about you.
Life is such a long night
I need you here by my side.

Life is such a long night
I need you,
I need you.
