Several passengers on a North Sea ferry were winched up into a rescue helicopter after fire broke out on board.<br /><br />Police said the incident occurred late on Saturday night on board the MS King Seaways, a ship operated by Denmark’s DFDS Seaways, after a passenger set fire to a cabin in circumstances that remained unclear.<br /><br />The boat was bound for Amsterdam, but returned to Newcastle early Sunday morning.<br /><br />Many of the passengers were planning to celebrate New Year’s Eve in the Netherlands.<br /><br />British police arrested two men on suspicion of arson.
