Saudi Arabia is giving the Lebanese army three billion dollars in aid. Lebanon’s President Michel Suleiman called it the largest grant ever to the country’s armed forces.<br /><br />The Saudi move is being seen as it trying to counterbalance Hezbollah – the most powerful armed militant group in Lebanon and funded by arch enemies Iran.<br /><br />It will help also Lebanon’s armed forces deal with violence spreading over the border from Syria’s civil war.
