<p>The northwest coast of Australia was hit by strong winds and heavy rain as a category three cyclone made landfall on December 30. The towns of Port Hedland and Karratha on the Pilbara coast were braced for storm damage with <a class="link" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://au.news.yahoo.com/a/20532850/port-hedland-and-karratha-on-red-alert-as-cyclone-christine-tracks-towards-was-pilbara/" target="_blank">winds forecast to reach 200</a> kilometres per hour.
