One Direction have seen their album Midnight Memories become the biggest selling of 2013 in the UK.<br/> <br />The album achieved the honor in double quick time, racking up almost 700,000 sales in just five weeks.<br/> <br />The band's album shot ahead of Emeli Sande's record-breaking debut album, Our Version of Events, in the last week of the year.<br/> <br />Meanwhile, on the singles front, the year belonged to musician Pharrell Williams.<br/> <br />He co-wrote and sang on the year's two biggest hits in the UK - Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines and Get Lucky by Daft Punk - which spent five and four weeks at number one respectively.<br/> <br />Once thought to be dead as a format, vinyl continues to grow at a remarkable rate, with sales of LP albums up 270 percent from five years ago.<br/> <br />Arctic Monkeys topped the vinyl charts with AM in 2013, as well as being the most streamed artists.
