In his yearly televised New Year's address, Russian President Vladimir Putin offers choice words to those responsible for two suicide attacks that killed 34 people ahead of the Winter Olympics.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (Russian) RUSSIAN PRESIDENT, VLADIMIR PUTIN, SAYING:<br/> <br />"Dear friends, we bow our heads before the victims of cruel terrorist acts. I am certain that we will fiercely and consistently continue the fight against terrorists until their complete annihilation."<br/> <br />It was his first public statement since the attacks were carried out in the city of Volgograd at a busy train station and on a trolleybus.<br/> <br />They both happened within 24-hours.<br/> <br />Police are detaining dozens in massive security sweeps across the city.<br/> <br />Russia has just over one month to prepare for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic games.<br/> <br />Russia's Olympic Committee chief said no more could be done to safeguard the Games since every measure possible was already in place around Sochi.
