Dubai Celebrates the New Year in spectacular style, with an attempt at the world record for the largest ever fireworks display. <br />Staring precisely 20 seconds before midnight local time, over 500,000 fireworks were set to be used during the display which is set to last around six minutes. <br /> <br />This is the biggest bang in the history of pyrotechnics has been designed by U.S. firm Fireworks by Grucci. <br />The performance is set to use 100 computers to synchronise the pyrotechnics, along with a choreographed musical soundtrack. <br />More than 200 expert technicians have put in 5,000 man hours of work to ensure that the fireworks' timing is accurate down to the millisecond. <br /> <br />Speaking ahead of this evening's event, Alistair Richards, Global President of Guinness World Records, who has travelled especially to Dubai from London to witness the display, said: 'The planned scale of this record attempt is truly impressive and will ensure all eyes are on Dubai.
