Weeks of fighting in South Sudan have forced more than 110,000 people to flee from their homes, according to French medical charity Medecins Sans Frontieres.

Two thirds of that number are believed to have fled the central city of Bor.

Many refugees remain without access to food, shelter and clean water.

“We are still under the trees, as you have seen other people. So we just live under the tree, no houses…and then many people are sick here , diarrhoea and other things,’‘ a young woman fleeing the violence said.

UN estimates put the figure on internally displaced people in South Sudan much higher, nearer the 200,000 mark.

The three week ethnic conflict in the world’s newest state has so far killed 1000 people.

Meetings between the government and rebels in neighbouring Ethiopia to broker a ceasefire are on-going.
