C-Jam Blues Ellington 1941 <br />It must have been in the mid forties, shortly after WWII, when the Netherlands had been liberated from the Nazi occupation that my dad once in a while took us to the movies. In the movie theatre, we called it the bioscoop, before the main feature was played we watched the "voor films" , basically "before films". <br />This was of course the news, Movietone, Fox were the companies for that, but then there were also these shorts. Often comics, of course cartoons and once in a while a musical short, <br />Many of these "Soundies" were made of famous artists. <br />Here is a three minute Duke Ellington one called C-Jam blues, featuring Ray Nance, Rex Stewart, Ben Webster , Joe Nanton and Sonny Greer . 1941
