A selection of Britain's hottest music talent gathered on Thursday January 10th for the announcement of the BRIT Award nominations.<br/> <br />Alternative rock band Bastille led the field picking up four nominations.<br/> <br />Matched only by electronic duo Disclosure.<br/> <br />Drum and bass collective, Rudimental, who performed at the event and who will also be performing at the awards ceremony itself received three nods.<br/> <br />Newcomer Sam Smith was already a winner, having received the BRITs Critics Choice award, getting the first of the Philip Treacy designed light up figurines.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE BRITs Critics Choice winner, Sam Smith (English), saying:<br/> <br />"I really wanted this award, like I don't want to beat around the bush, I watched it every single year and it's my, it was my dream to get it and I really worked hard and fought to get it."<br/> <br />The Critic's choice alumni were out in full force with Tom Odell, Jessie J and Ellie Goulding all on the red carpet.<br/> <br />Veteran David Bowie was
