Golden Globes: "La Grande Bellezza" wins Best Foreign Film

Italian director Paolo Sorrentino picked up the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film for “La Grande Belleza”. <br /><br />“Thank you. Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press.Thank you to my friends, Nicola, Umberto, Toni, Viola, <br />Daria, Davide, Luca. And thank you to my wife, Daniela and my children, Anna and Carlo. Thank you to Italy. <br />That’s a crazy country, but beautiful. Thank you very much,” said the director. <br /><br />An exploration of the contradictions and beauty of Rome, “La Grande Bellezza” was the big winner of last year’s European Film Awards, taking home four gongs – for best European director, actor, editor and best film.<br /> <br />In other awards, Spike Jonze won Best Screenplay for his quirky romance “Her”, the story of a man who falls in love with the voice of his computer’s operating system, brilliantly performed by Scarlett Johansson. <br /><br />Meanwhile, Disney’s “Frozen”, the adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale “The Snow Queen”, won Best Animated Film. <br /><br />In the TV category, “Breaking Bad” won the Golden Globe for Best Drama Series while “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” took the gong in the comedy category.
