US President Barack Obama is expected to announce reforms to the way the National Security Agency (NSA) conducts its surveillance of Americans.<br /><br />The announcement will be made on Friday and follows months of controversy sparked by revelations from former NSA contractor, Edward Snowden.<br /><br />Forty years ago, the theft of documents from the FBI also led to public alarm over government spying, and eventual reform.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Shihab Rattansi met two of those involved in the heist, who have now gone public.
