LA area wildfire prompts state of emergency

A massive wildfire still rages on the foothills above Glendora, California, a suburb near Los Angeles.<br/> <br />Officials there have declared a state of emergency to help those who have been forced to evacuate.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: RESIDENT LOUIS RICE, SAYING:<br/> <br />"It started off with a couple of little embers. Thought we were safe. But I really don't know right now."<br/> <br />More than 1,100 firefighters are battling the intense flames that have scorched 1,700 acres and destroyed at least five homes and 17 buildings.<br/> <br />Officials say it'll be a few days before the fire is fully contained.
