In this lab, Google is working on a new product they hope will change the way diabetics monitor their blood-sugar levels.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: BRIAN OTIS, GOOGLE PROJECT CO-FOUNDER, SAYING:<br/> <br />"We're working on a prototype of a smart contact lens that measures glucose in tears using a tiny wireless chip and a miniaturized glucose sensor."<br/> <br />The tiny chip and sensor would be placed between two layers of lens material and would measure glucose levels every second.<br/> <br />If successful, the "smart contact lens" could give diabetics another way to monitor their condition without having to do finger pricks.<br/> <br />SOUNDBITE: BRIAN OTIS, GOOGLE PROJECT CO-FOUNDER, SAYING:<br/> <br />"Our hope is that one day it could possibly be a new tool to help people with diabetes better monitor their disease."<br/> <br />Google says a lot of work still needs to be done to make the product a reality. It could take up to a few years.<br/> <br />The "smart contact lens" also needs FDA approval before it goes on the mark
