2014-01-22 50 Dailymotion

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon has described the challenges as “considerable”.

The US, UN and others want a ceasefire and the formation of a government to include members of Syrian President Bashar al Assad and opposition and for him to step down and face an international criminal court.

It won’t be easy. Recent claims of photographic evidence reported to show the torture and murder of Syrian detainees have only added fuel to the fire.

Euronews correspondent Kawtar Wakil reported from Montreux:
“The Geneva II conference is designed to be an addition to Geneva I. It takes place within local, provincial and international confines to try and find a political solution to the issues raised by the conference.”
