Egypt brings forward presidential elections

Egypt’s interim President Adly Mansour, has announced that presidential elections will be held sooner than planned and before the country elects a new parliament.<br /><br />The move could see the head of the army, General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, becoming president within months.<br /><br />Public reaction is mixed. Some people regard him as a hero and others as a potential dictator.<br /><br />Omar Gamal El Din, a Cairo resident, said: “I think the country needs a strong president more than it needs a parliament or parliament members. I think it is a good decision.”<br /><br />Mohammed Salama, a Cairo resident, said: “It is not acceptable to move the elections forward. Or why did we have a revolution? Parliament should come first and then presidential elections. It is not acceptable to return to dictatorship and heartache.
