The Annie Awards held its annual ceremony in Los Angeles on February 1st to celebrate the best of the year's animations in TV, film and game.<br /> <br />The evening also honours icons of the industry with Winsor McCay awards.<br /> <br />Japanese animator Katsuhiro Otomo was one of the recipients.<br /> <br />He made manga, the Japanese style of animation, known to the world's audiences after the release and success of his 1988 dystopian sci-film "Akira".<br /> <br />SOUNDBITE: Japanese Animator, Katsuhiro Otomo, saying (Japanese):<br /> <br />"When I was told I had won this award I was like, 'did I do something special?' as I don't really watch my films, so when I get back to Japan I guess I will have to start."<br /> <br />Winsor McCay was a comic strip illustrator who made 10 short animation films between 1911 and 1921.<br /> <br />He was a pioneer in his field and was an inspiration to the second recipient of the award in his name, Steven Spielberg.<br /> <br />SOUNDBITE: Director Steven Spielberg, saying (English):<br /> <br />"I'm
