French Admiral says security in Bangui improving

Soldiers search for weapons in the ravaged capital of the Central African Republic.<br/> <br />French troops are trying to secure Bangui....and end the violence that has seen about one million people flee their homes.<br/> <br />Despite their efforts, residents are still packing up and leaving.<br/> <br />But French army chief of staff, Edouard Guillaud, says the security situation has improved.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE)(French) EDWARD GUILLAUD, ADMIRAL AND FRENCH FORCES CHIEF OF STAFF, SAYING:<br/> <br />"Our evaluation of the situation is that we are on a positive streak, it's not over yet, we haven't yet won, but we are in the process of getting back security to Bangui."<br/> <br />Despite the peacekeepers, the country is being torn apart by intercommunal violence since mainly Muslim rebels seized power in March.<br/> <br />At least 2,000 people are believed to have died since fighters withdrew from the capital last month.<br/> <br />And looting, lynching, and outbreaks of violence between Muslims and Christians continue in
