A protest in Rio de Janeiro’s main train station turned violent on Thursday with riot police using batons and tear gas to disperse the group.<br /><br />Demonstrators destroyed ticket machines and turnstiles in their rally against a 10 cent rise in public transportation fares, which is expected to come into effect this weekend.<br /><br />Several people were said to be injured, including one cameraman.
