She picks up lovers and visas along the way.<br /> Leyla oscillates between intense mysticism and atheism.<br /> Nadim, an architect, reinvents his city, contributing to its destruction and reconstruction.<br /> Tarek has recently returned to his country and wonders why he did so.<br /> Haidar, a reporter, broadcasts what he observes of the world around him –and of his own life – over the radio.<br /> These characters interact, caught hanging in the present. They dare not look behind them, even less do they dare plan ahead.
