The red carpet was rolled out for French President François Hollande as he arrived in Washington.<br /><br />He will be in the united States for three days. His state visit will include a black-tie dinner at the White House and a trip in the presidential plane Air Force One.<br /><br />Hollande will also visit Silicon Valley and have lunch with the heads of Facebook and Google, as well as touring Thomas Jefferson’s house in Virginia<br /><br />It’s the first state visit to the US by a French president since Jacques Chirac visited Bill Clinton in 1996. It’s being seen as evidence of the close ties between the two countries.
