Anti-government protesters have clashed with riot police in Kyiv as demonstrators march on Ukraine’s parliament ahead of a key vote on constitutional change.<br /><br />After being blocked by a line of trucks about 100 metres<br />short of the building, protesters reportedly hurled stones at police who replied with stun and smoke grenades.<br /><br />The opposition wants to curtail powers accumulated by President Viktor Yanukovych such as appointing the prime minister and government as well as regional governors.<br /><br />Yanukovych could name his next prime minister on Tuesday to replace Russian-born Mykola Azarov, whom he sacked last month. The opposition is hoping for a moderate as a sign that Yanukovych is open to change.<br /><br />Moscow meanwhile has pledged fresh cash for Ukraine after the opposition asked for EU aid in a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Monday.
