A deadly attack on an opposition rally in eastern Thailand.<br/> <br />Food, shattered glass, and blood can be seen on the ground at this night market in the Khao Saming district of Trat province.<br/> <br />Gunmen threw explosives and shot at anti-government demonstrators, killing a five-year-old girl and wounding dozens of other people late on Saturday.<br/> <br />It's feared the number of dead will rise.<br/> <br />One witness said people were just about to leave, as the rally was almost finished.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (Thai) 54 YEAR-OLD FOOD SELLER SOMKIT BOONCHU SAYING:<br/> <br />"They were about to go back. I also almost went back."<br/> <br />The demonstrators want Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to resign to make way for an appointed interim government. She has refused.<br/> <br />No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.<br/> <br />But tensions across Thailand have escalated since a wave of anti-government protests began in November.
