Mice and now even a monkey have been born with three parents, born from normal paternal sperm and DNA and the mother’s egg and most of her DNA. <br /><br />But any harmful genetic mutations carried in their cells were replaced by another mother’s. <br /><br />Scientists are now debating if clinical human trials can begin – potentially eliminating life-threatening mutations – or if instead this would open the door to designer babies.
