ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)<br/> <br />Clashes erupted on Friday (February 28) in occupied East Jerusalem, after an Israeli right-wing member of parliament tried to introduce a bill that calls for the application of Israeli sovereignty over the al-Aqsa mosque compound, and to allow Jews to pray there.<br/> <br />Sitting above the Western Wall plaza, it is home to the Dome of the Rock and al-Aqsa mosque, Islam's third holiest site.<br/> <br />Jews refer to it as the Temple Mount, and many believe it is the site of the first and second Jewish temples.<br/> <br />Israeli security forces were deployed in and around the city's ancient walls and prevented many Palestinians from entering the al-Aqsa mosque to take part in Friday prayers.
