The economy of Sudan has been suffering since South Sudan became an independent country in 2011. <br /><br />The value of the currency has fallen and unemployment is rising. <br /><br />Inflation rose sharply last year, reaching 44 percent by December, with much of the rise coming from basic food items such as meat, fruit, and milk. <br /><br />With the government blamed for the situation, fears of a public rising are rife.<br /><br />Al Jazeera's Mohammed Adow reports from Khartoum.
