Protests by pro-Muslim Brotherhood students in Cairo continued into a second week on Sunday.<br/> <br />Police opened fire with tear gas and buckshot as the protesters hurled stones.<br/> <br />One student was killed in the clashes, the second to die in as many weeks.<br/> <br />Egypt's security forces have mounted a crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood since ousting Islamist President Mohamed Mursi last July.<br/> <br />The demonstrations have intensified over the past week after a court handed down death sentences to more than 500 alleged Brotherhood members in Minya city.<br/> <br />The students are demanding reinstatement of those expelled for membership of the Muslim Brotherhood, or for taking part in the protests.<br/> <br />The violence coincided with the announcement of voting dates for presidential elections.<br/> <br />The polls are due to take place in late May for a contest former army chief Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is expected to win easily.
