After Afghanistan’s presidential election, trucks delivered ballot boxes to the Independent Election Commission in Kabul as vote counting got underway.<br /><br />Political analysts are saying that the new president should be willing to “reach a political compromise.”<br /><br />Haroon Mir, political analyst, said: “Many candidates represent the interest of specific ethnic groups and it’s for the good of Afghan people and the country that if we could reach a political compromise in the runoff between the top two contenders, that will be a better outcome.”<br /><br />A runoff is widely expected since no candidate is likely to get the majority needed for an outright victory. <br /><br />Final results are not expected for a week or more.
