ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)<br/> <br />The Progress 55, an unmanned spacecraft carrying supplies for the International Space Station (ISS) launched on Wednesday (April 9) from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.<br/> <br />The launch occurred at 11:25 EDT (1526 GMT) and mission control expects the Progress 55 will rendezvous with the ISS in approximately six hours.<br/> <br />The Progress 55, also referred to as the Progress M-23M launched atop a Russian-buiilt Soyuz rocket carrying food and supplies for the crew aboard the space station.<br/> <br />On Monday, Progress 54 ended its docking mission with the (ISS). It will orbit the Earth for 11 days conducting engineering tests before deorbiting over the Pacific next week.
