Here in Yangon, residents are pouring water on Buddha to kick off the New Year in Myanmar.<br/> <br />It's a way to wash away last year's sins, and start the new year off fresh.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (Burmese) 45-YEAR-OLD RESIDENT SANDAR SOE SAYING:<br/> <br />"I am thinking of making more donations in the coming year and I hope our country will get more developed since our country is in progress gradually."<br/> <br />It also is an excuse to dance in the street, on top of cars -- and drench each other with water.<br/> <br />The Myanmar New Year, also known as the Water Festival, lasts four days.
