Three people have been shot dead in a suspected hate crime against the Jewish community in the US state of Kansas.<br /><br />A teenager and his grandfather – both Christians – were gunned down at a Jewish community centre in Kansas City. A woman was then killed at a nearby Jewish retirement home. <br /><br />Police arrested a suspect, a white man in his seventies, and took him into custody. <br /><br />US media reports quoting an anti-racist group say he is known as a long-term white supremacist and anti-Semite. <br /><br />The gunfire erupted on on the eve of the Jewish Passover holiday.<br /><br />It was a busy Sunday afternoon at the community centre – which is used by both Jewish and non-Jewish people – with youth meetings and drama and dance rehearsals taking place.<br /><br />The dead 14-year-old is said to have been a boy scout. He and his grandfather reportedly belonged to a methodist church.
