A defence witness in the murder trial of South African athlete Oscar Pistorius says the victim, Reeva Steenkamp, was shot four times in quick succession.<br /><br />Forensics expert Roger Dixon claims Ms Steenkamp was standing at an angle to the toilet door and was hit by all four shots as she fell.<br /><br />This challenges the state version that Reeva Steenkamp screamed out in the pause between the first and second shots.<br /><br />Oscar Pistorius says he fired rapidly out of fear through the locked toilet door. <br /><br />Prosecutor Gerrie Nel tried to discredit the qualifications and experience of Mr Dixon.<br /><br />The witness made it clear throughout that he was not a ballistics expert, something the prosecution seized upon.<br /><br />Dixon is a geologist and former head of material analysis at a police forensic laboratory in Pretoria where he worked for 18 years. <br /><br />Oscar Pistorius says he shot his then girlfriend after mistaking her for an intruder.
