A man attempts to clean away the debris after another day of violence in Baghdad.<br/> <br />A car bomb and a suicide bomber killed at least 17 people in the Shi'ite district of Sadr City<br/> <br />No one is immediately claiming responsibility for the attacks<br/> <br />The district is a stronghold of Shi'ite radical cleric Moqtada al-Sadr and has been a frequent scene of attacks.<br/> <br />A resident asks why us?<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) MOHAMMED, CITY RESIDENT, SAYING:<br/> <br />"We are not politicians. We are not the government. If they have a quarrel with the politicians and the government, they can go to the Green Zone."<br/> <br />Sectarian bloodshed is mounting in Iraq since the Shi'ite-led government began an offensive against Sunni insurgents in the western province of Anbar.<br/> <br />In 2013, violence spiked with nearly 8,000 civilians were killed.<br/> <br />The latest attacks come as Iraqis prepare to hold parliamentary elections April 30th with Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki seeking a third term.
