Originally published on November 4, 2013<br /><br />At least 30 people were killed in an attack on a wedding convoy in northeastern Nigeria on Saturday, according to a report by the BBC.<br /><br />The incident happened in the state of Borno, Nigeria's most remote northeastern region on the notorious Bama-Banki highway. The dangerous stretch of road is bordered by a dense forest known as a hideout for the Islamist militant group Boko Haram.<br /><br />The wedding convoy was ambushed by suspected Islamist militants as it made its way back to the state capital Maiduguri.<br /><br />The gunmen opened fire, killing dozens, including the groom.<br /><br />"All the victims were brutally murdered by the attackers," said an anonymous witness cited by the BBC.<br /><br />"My passengers and I were shocked when we met the dead bodies lying by the highway."<br /><br />According to the BBC, the fate of the bride and her family members has yet to be determined.<br /><br />No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks.<br /><br />--------------------------------------------------------<br /><br />TomoNews is your daily source for top animated news.
