But that's what they did with social media campaign #myNYPD. <br /><br />An NYPD social media attempt totally failed on Tuesday when Twitter users started posting pictures of apparent police brutality. The NYPD's official Twitter account asked citizens to post pictures of themselves with members of the boys in blue using the hashtag #myNYPD. The NYPD plan was to then put the best responses on the department's Facebook page. <br /><br />Unfortunately for the NYPD, instead of getting a bunch of feel good pictures with New Yorkers and police officers, Twitter users almost immediately started flooding Twitter with photos showing perceived instances of abuse and brutality by the department. <br /><br />As a response to all the great police brutality pictures, Deputy Chief Kim Royster released a statement Tuesday night saying: "The NYPD is creating new ways to communicate effectively with the community.
