Melinda Herman, a Loganville, Georgia mother who shot intruder Paul Slater in self-defense, has unwittingly found herself in the middle of America's gun control debate. This incident occurred in Atlanta last Friday when Melinda Herman saw a man breaking into her house.<br /><br />UPDATE: In a March court appearance, 32-year-old Slater admitted he broke into Donnie and Melinda Herman's Loganville home.
