Firefighters battled a forest blaze in Ocean County, New Jersey on Thursday (April 24) that threatens homes and forced the evacuation of a school.<br/> <br />The fire, which started on Wednesday, is said to be have spread to 300 acres, its flames reportedly lapping near at least 40 homes.<br/> <br />Students at Toms River Intermediate South school were evacuated, according to a posting on the school district's website.<br/> <br />The Department of Environmental Protection estimates that some 500 acres will have been destroyed by the time the blaze is put out.<br/> <br />No injuries from the blaze were reported.
