It's a journey that started with smiles and laughter as Sherpas pose for camera's on Mount Everest.<br/> <br />Discovery Channel crews were at base camp preparing to chronicle Joby Ogwyn's attempt to make the first wing suit flight from the summit of Mount Everest.<br/> <br />Instead, on the morning of Friday, April 18, tragedy struck. An avalanche killed more than a dozen sherpas that day in the deadliest day ever on the world's tallest peak.<br/> <br />Ogwyn watched the tragedy unfold.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (English) JOBY OGWYN SAYING:<br/> <br />"The avalanche, just started moving down towards them -- almost like it was in a funnel -- and it moved directly in and just covered everybody up, everybody that I could see. So, very quickly I started to get dressed and get ready because I knew right then that something really bad had happened."<br/> <br />On May 4th, the Discovery Channel will broadcast a 90-minute documentary, called "Everest Avalanche Tragedy", around the world.<br/> <br />(SOUNDBITE) (English) JOBY OGWY
